Big brawl breaks out at city nightspot
BY PORTSIA SMITH
Two men were stabbed after a large fight broke out at a bar early Saturday morning, Fredericksburg police said.
According to Fredericksburg police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe, officers responded to reports of a fight and possible gunfire at the Grapevine Cafe at 622 Kenmore Ave.
Bledsoe said several people were fighting, but most left when police arrived.
Two officers stopped a car with four men in it.
One of the passengers had been stabbed three times, Bledsoe said. The stabbing victim’s brother told police that he had been assaulted while inside the bar and when his brother came to help, a fight erupted.
The stabbing victim could not provide any details about his attacker, Bledsoe said.
A bouncer told police that when the fight started, he closed the bar and sent all of the customers outside. He also reported hearing several gunshots outside.
A second victim was found inside the bar and told police that an unknown person hit him on the head with a beer bottle and then slashed him across the back with the broken bottle, Bledsoe said.
Both stabbing victims were treated and transported to an area hospital.
Bledsoe said several witnesses were interviewed, but police have no suspects yet. The case is under investigation.
