County prosecutor charged with DUI

A prosecutor in the Spotsylvania County commonwealth’s attorney’s office was suspended by Common wealth’s Attorney William F. Neely after being charged with driving under the influ ence in a three-vehicle crash Friday night in Spotsylvania, according to a state police spokeswoman.

Amy Marie Harper, 38, of Fredericksburg was charged with driving while under the influence, refusal to take a blood or breath test and following too closely.

She was released on bond.

At 10:55 p.m. Friday, Har per was driving her 2006 Porsche SUV southbound on Salem Church Road near Ross Drive when it struck a 2006 Dodge Stratus in the rear. The Dodge then hit the back of a 2004 Toyota Corolla, accord ing to a press release from Virginia State Police.

The county website also lists Harper as a marriage commissioner appointed by Spotsylvania County Circuit Court.

She is suspended pending trial for the three offenses.
