Police ID two killed in crash
Police identified the two people killed in a Westmoreland County accident Friday afternoon.
James A. Brown, 77, and Elizabeth Stokes, 70, both of the 400 block of Madge Marsh Lane in Heathsville, died at the scene when the Honda Contour they were riding in crossed over the double yellow line and struck a Westmoreland County school bus, said Virginia State Police Sgt. Thomas Molnar.
The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. Friday on Cople Highway about a quarter-mile east of Beales Mill Road. Cople was closed for nearly four hours during the investigation, Molnar said.
Beverly Smith, the 65-year-old driver of school bus No. 47, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was flown by helicopter to Mary Washington Hospital. There were no students on the bus at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation, Molnar said.
