Take TV with you to the bathroom, thanks to streaming FiOS iPad app

The secret’s out.

But Verizon is to officially announce on Tuesday  that 75 live FiOS TV channels, among them HBO, Cinemax, HGTV, Nickelodeon, Fox News and MSNBC, will be available for in-home streaming via Wi-Fi to  FiOS subscribers to iPads, spokesman Harry Mitchell said Monday night.

An updated Verizon Mobile App makes streaming to iPads possible directly from your home router without PC or Mac software. So you’re mobile, but that mobility ends in your driveway. Still, it’s cool. You don’t have to stop watching TV when you go to the bathroom! My kids will be putting this technology to use immediately.

The app is available in Apple’s App Store.  It only works with high-def set top boxes, though.

It’s awesome the people who have FiOS can stream live TV to their iPad’s now. I guess getting the feature now is better than never. I’ve been able to stream live TV on my iPad for the longest time using the DISH Remote Access app and a Sling Adapter connected to my receiver. I like to catch up on my shows while I’m on break at DISH where I work. It’s nice being able to stream anywhere I want, unlike the FiOS app which will only work at home.
