FCC’s ‘State of Broadband’ test shows overall improvement, led by Verizon FiOS

The FCC has released the results of its second independent test of broadband speeds, consistency and reliability for residential customers.

According to “Measuring Broadband America 2012”  Verizon FiOS’  sustained upstream and downstream speeds are fastest, even during peak usage periods.

Verizon spokesman Harry Mitchell notes that, “the test was conducted before the June launch of FiOS Quantum speed tiers of 50/25, 75/35, 150/65 and 300/65 megabits per second.”

The FCC found that Internet service providers in general are coming closer to meeting advertised speeds during peak hours.
