Learn from my mistake. Don’t give a robot vacuum cleaner as a Mother’s Day gift, just because you think it’s cool.

Gadgets are cool. But don’t make the mistake of giving Mom a home appliance as a Mother’s Day gift because it’s robotic and you’re dazzled by that. It’s sexist. If you want one, buy it for yourself. If you want to give a gadget as a gift and she’s been talking about the iPad 2, go there. Digital picture frames are safe bets.
Trust me on this. I once gave my Mom a digital bathroom scale that talked. It told her how much weight she’d gained since the last time she stepped on. That didn’t go over too well.
Better yet, ask her what she wants. Or stick with something boring, but safe like flowers, candy and dinner.
