Motorola Xoom tablet named CES’s top gadget of 2011: What the Xoom can do that the iPad can’t

LAS VEGAS–No grubby little media hands were allowed to touch the Motorola’s Xoom tablet that was picked as Best in Show Sunday at the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show in. Las Vegas. At 10.1 inches to 9.7 inches, its display is bigger than the iPad’s and it’s currently the only device that runs Android 3.0 Honeycomb.
Here’s a look as a Motorola rep patiently answers some dumb questions…
“Is it a phone?”
But he also explains what the Xoom has that the iPad doesn’t–at least until iPad 2 comes out.

Verizon Wireless has exclusive rights to the Xoom for now. No price has been set yet. It’s expected to launch in the first quarter of 2011. It’s been a good week for Vwz, which announced it will also offer consumers a Verizon iPhone. That’s expected to happen as soon as Feb. 3.

Unless the Xoom is priced significantly lower than the iPad, the choice would seem to come down to whether you prefer Android.
