A Louisa County man is charged with sex crimes against a 10-year-old girl he was supposed to take shopping.
According to Donald Lowe of the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, a 10-year-old girl and her mother reported to Louisa authorities recently reported that a family acquaintance had offered to take the girl shopping last Thursday, but instead took her to his residence on Windyknight Road in the Montpelier area of Louisa.
Once at the residence, the victim told police a number of crimes occured at the home.
Based on the initial investigation, Lowe said an arrest was made.
Joe Callis Leake, 36, of Montpelier is charged with abduction, object sexual penetration, aggravated sexual battery, indecent liberties by a custodian and forcible sodomy.
Leake was held without bond at the Central Virginia Regional Jail and was scheduled for a bond hearing Friday in Louisa General District Court, but it was continued to Friday in Louisa’s Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
Lowe said due to the sensitive nature of the investigation, it is extremely unlikely that further details will be released about the case.
He also said they are investigating if there are any other victims.
