Louisa to open cooling shelter; no estimate for restoring power

Release from the county:

LOUISA, VA – Due to the expected high heat, Louisa County will open a cooling shelter on Saturday, June 30 and Sunday, July 1 at the Betty Queen Intergenerational Center located at 522 Industrial Drive in Louisa. Center hours will be from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. both days. Food will not be provided and citizens will need to bring their own food, medications, and other necessities. Transportation will not be provided.

Update- Due to the severe thunderstorm on Friday June 29, the county is experiencing power outages. County emergency management is monitoring the situation and at this time working to get roads open and trees disentangled from power lines. The power companies cannot provide time estimates of when power will be restored.
