Louisa man charged with aggravated sexual battery
A Louisa County man is charged with aggravated sexual battery after police say he touched a child inappropriately at a school.
According to a police report from the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, an investigation began Wednesday into an allegation of sexual assault of a juvenile at Jouett Elementary School in Louisa.
Police said Leslie Johnson Jr., 45, of Apple Grove Road, was at the school to pick up an unrelated student whom he was authorized to sign out. After the allegation, he was identified, interviewed and arrested within a few hours.
He is being held without bond at Central Virginia Regional Jail until his preliminary hearing on April 9.
School officials made parents aware by telephone and letters this week.
“This is an ongoing criminal investigation involving an individual student so I am not able to discuss the details of the incident, but please know that the safety and security of our students is always paramount,” said Superintendent Deborah Pettit. “The sheriff’s office feels strongly that this is an isolated incident and we are thankful for their quick response to ensure our students’ safety.”
