Canadian man charged with solicitation of Louisa teen
A Canadian man was arrested outside of Detroit Saturday where he thought he was meeting a 14-year-old girl from Louisa County.
Alan J. Sauve, 46, of Ontario, Canada is charged with using a communication system to solicit sex from a minor under 15 years old.
The arrest was a result of a 10-month investigation by the Louisa County Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, and began with an actual solicitation of a Louisa teen.
Once the solicitation was reported, detectives assumed the girl’s online identity and began communicating with Sauve, and arranged a place to meet in Michigan on Nov. 13.
Sauve was arrested without incident by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents and is awaiting extradition to Virginia.
Louisa County Sheriff Ashland Fortune said, “This arrest shows how global the problem of internet child sexual exploitation is and how the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office is taking a proactive stance to apprehend these offenders.”
