A two-day series on fracking is being presented Sunday and Monday in The Free Lance-Star and online. Sunday’s package deals with issues concerning zoning ordinances and regulations that localities in the Taylorsville basin are dealing with as they face the prospect of drilling for natural gas in the region. The Taylorsville Basin Partners, a group of environmentalists and community activists, have gathered the following information and resources for localities:
Monday’s package includes comments from Stan Sherrill, the president of the Texas-based company looking to drill in the area. It also looks at comparisons between the Taylorsville Basin and the gigantic Marcellus Shale area in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and New York.
