KG UDC honors veterans Friday

King George Chapter 1616 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy will host a Military Appreciation Night on Friday Nov. 8 at the Dahlgren campus of Mary Washington University.

Seven veterans, whose service ranged from World War II to Operation Iraqi Freedom, will be honored, along with three King George residents being recognized for community service. The program begins at 6:30 p.m.

Award recipients are: Clarence “Bunny” Jackson, Army, World War II and Korea; Marion Brooks, Army, World War II; Ernest Jordan, Navy, World War II; Lloyd H. Adams, Navy, Vietnam; James Templeton Johnson, Army and Army National Guard; Vernon “Ron” Viet, Navy and Army National Guard, Desert Storm; and Jamie Martin, Navy, Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Vic Mason and Buddy Fines will be honored for their contributions to active military members and veterans. Lori Deem of the King George Journal will be recognized for community service.
