Annual inspections on Nice Bridge start next week
Starting Monday, one lane of the Harry W. Nice Memorial Bridge over U.S. 301 will be closed temporarily for routine inspections.
The work will be done, weather permitting, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority. Inspections will start Sept. 16 and continue for about two months.
As the crews work, drivers may observe equipment such as “Snooper” trucks on the bridge, along with inspectors climbing and moving over the structure.
Trucks greater than 10-feet wide will not be able to cross the bridge during flagging operations. Drivers of wide vehicles should call 301/259-4444 to obtain approval and schedule an escort. Efforts will be made to get those vehicles across from 8 to 8:30 a.m. and from 3:30 to 4 p.m., according to the press release.
