Have your say, at 6:15 not 6:30
Got something to say to the Board of Supervisors? Better get to the meetings by 6:15 p.m.
Starting Tuesday, Feb. 19, the public comment portion of the supervisors’ meeting will begin 15 minutes earlier than it had in the past. The board decided to make that change on Feb. 5.
Meetings start in the board room of the Revercomb building at 6 p.m. To newcomers, the process can be a little confusing, because there are actually three meetings held on the first and third Tuesdays of the month.
The same people—the elected Board of Supervisors members—make up the boards of the King George County Service Authority and the Wireless Authority. The meetings for the two authorities are usually brief; in fact, there’s often no new business brought before the Wireless Authority.
The Board of Supervisors’ meeting begins after the first two end. But because the agenda stated the public-comment portion would begin at 6:30 p.m., people who came to meetings to speak to the supervisors often had to wait a few minutes more to have their say.
Supervisors said they changed the agenda to get rid of the wait for those wishing to comment on county issues and concerns.
