Gluten-free support group has annual meeting
The King George Gluten Intolerance and Celiac Group plans its eighth annual community open house on Sunday, Jan. 27, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Salem Church Library.
Members of the Children’s National Medical Center’s (CNMC’s) Celiac Disease Program in Washington will discuss the celiac disease program at their center and highlight upcoming support groups for children and adults. Presenters include Dr. Aaron Rakow, psychologist; Vanessa Weisbrod, coordinator; and Cheryl Molinatto, dietitian.
Shirley Braden, who leads the local support group, will have handouts about celiac disease, non-celiac gluten issues and how to live gluten free easily. There also will be beverages, gluten-free treats and snacks and door prize, such as gluten-free mixes and magazines.
More information, including a video from the national center, is available here. Braden also can be reached at 540/775-3031.
