The Wards add a miniature donkey to their list of exotics
The Wards have added to their list of wards. This week, Charlie and Wilma Ward came back from Missouri, where they bought a miniature donkey named Ashley, who’s 7 and pregnant.
You can see in the photo that Zadonia, the zebra that just turned 1, is checking out the new member of the herd. There’s a little jealousy, as you might imagine. Zadonia regularly gets between Wilma and Ashley, in an effort to stop the donkey from getting all the human attention. And Hollie, the Australian shepherd, barks every time Ashley brays.
Ashley is full-grown and stands all of 29 inches tall. Wilma said she and Charlie have talked about getting a miniature donkey for years.
The Wards, who grew up with horses and have developed a fondness for exotics in recent years, were featured in a recent story in The Free Lance-Star. Photographer Bob Martin got some great photos of their menagerie.
