County declares a local emergency after June 29 storm damage
Tonight, the Board of Supervisors approved a declaration of local emergency as a result of damage caused by the storm on Friday, June 29. The county incurred significant costs during the storm and may be able to recoup some of those expenses if the president approves of the declaration.
King George spent about $27,000 on generator time, said Steven Lynd, the county’s deputy emergency management coordinator. He said the Federal Emergency Management Association already has been to Virginia and is in the process of assessing the storm damage.
