Severe thunderstorm warning in effect
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning until 4:30 p.m. for western King George County, eastern Spotsylvania County, and southeastern Stafford County.
The thunderstorm was first detected about 7 miles southeast of Fredericksburg, at Massaponax, and was moving east at 5 miles per hour. The storm is capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph.
Locations impacted include: Sealston, Lambs Creek, Passapatanzy and Dogue.
The National Weather Service said this is a dangerous storm and that people should move indoors to a sturdy building and stay away from windows. The storm is producing frequent cloud to ground lightning.
