DECA presents safety program for young ladies

DECA, the marketing class at King George High School, will host, “Be Aware, Be Prepared: A Ladies Safety Event” on Tuesday May 29 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the school.

The event is geared toward young ladies ages 16 to 19 and will include presentations by the King George Sheriff’s Department, Rappahannock Council on Domestic Violence and a self-defense specialist. Presentations will focus on ways young women can stay safe as they make the transition from home and high school to college, work and living alone.

Audience members also will have the chance to visit with representatives from various groups that will provide information on safety and awareness.

DECA will also be collecting used cell phones for the Rappahannock Council on Domestic Violence.
