Student holds second bike rodeo

Deputy Jeff Stonewill with Taylor Courtney and Grant Cook, winner of the boy's bike.

Taylor Courtney, a freshman at King George High School, held his second Bike Safety Rodeo on April 21 during the county’s annual Health Fair/Spring Fling.

Last year, Taylor organized the event as part of his Boy Scout Eagle badge. This year, he just wanted to spread the importance of bike safety among members of the community. His rodeo focused on everything from helmets and chains to hand signals and tires.

The rodeo also included the giveaway of two bikes, which were donated by the King George Walmart. Grant Cook, 5, won the boy’s bike and Chloe Hansen, 9, the girl’s bike.

Taylor plans to do a bike rodeo at the Walmart in Dahlgren on May 26.

Chloe Hansen won the girl's bike.
