About budgets and pay increases

The Board of Supervisors was discussing the 2012-2013 budget on Monday and asking if it included any raises for employees or step increases for teachers.

It doesn’t, said County Administrator Travis Quesenberry.

Board members talked about that for a bit, then Chairman Cedell Brooks, who runs a funeral home in Port Royal, joked he wasn’t familiar with gradual increases in pay. Like most people who work for themselves, the salary he gives himself is minimal.

“I’ve been making $5,000 for 20 years, so I don’t know about raises,” he said.
