Antioch Baptist has program for women, honors Signing Sensations
Antioch Baptist Church in King George plans a Women’s Day program on Sunday, May 6 at 11 a.m. and a three-day revival leading up to the program May 2-4 with services at 7 nightly.
During devotions on Friday night and Sunday morning, the church’s Signing Sensations of God Ministry will perform a sign dance. Members of the group are Aretha McDowney, Valerie Peyton and Antonia Bland.
The women started the sign-language ministry two years ago. The Signing Sensations perform gospel songs using sign language and some moves. As the song is played, the words are interpreted through sign language, facial expression and body movements.
“It is very beautiful,” Bland said. “The deaf and hard of hearing are able to get meaning from this as they cannot hear the music.”
The Signing Sensations will perform on Sunday, May 6, to complement the Women’s Day program.
Antioch Baptist Church is on U.S. 301, and its address is 11102 James Madison Parkway. More information is available on its website.
