Severe thunderstorm watch until 4:45 p.m.

The National Weather Service in Sterling has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for several areas, including northern King George County until 4:45 p.m.

At 3:18 p.m., Doppler radar indicated a  severe thunderstorm capable of producing hail up to the size of  quarters and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph.  The storm was  located near Potomac Creek and moving northeast at 15 mph.

Locations impacted include Potomac Creek, Aquia Creek, Port Tobacco River. A second bulletin included Swan Point and La Plata, Md.

The National Weather Service advised this is a dangerous storm. Those in its path should move indoors to a sturdy building and stay away from windows.
