Who pays for troopers to attend out-of-state funerals? Not taxpayers
After I blogged about all the out-of-state troopers at yesterday’s funeral for Adam Bowen–and wondered who footed the bill for their travel expenses–Corrine Geller answered the question. She’s a spokeswoman for the Virginia State Police and she said travel expenses like this typically are paid for by Fraternal Order of Police agencies, unions and associations.
“So, no taxpayer money is spent . . . other than to possibly purchase a flag from their state that is flown over their capitol and then presented to the family,” she said.
