Finally, an angel for Jessica Gohring

Doris and Ed Gohring believe their daughter is finally resting in peace, thanks to the long-awaited angel that looks over her grave.

Jessica Gohring died in a car crash in July 2009, two months after the 23-year-old graduated from college. As her parents dealt with the loss of their only daughter— and a grandson—they faced more heartache trying to get her a graveside memorial.

The Gohrings paid $20,000 for a five-foot tall, hand-carved marble statue of an angel, but didn’t get the marker until more than a year after it was ordered.

Along with state officials, they came to realize the King George County cemetery where Jessica is buried, off U.S. 301, was mired in financial and administrative problems.

See tomorrow’s story for an update on what’s been happening at the cemetery, and with former owner Robert Ray Crouch. And, look for touching photos of the Gohring angel by Reza Marvashti.
