It’s summer and time for The Taters
The Saturday after the official start of summer, King George Parks and Recreation presents Summerfest 2011, a fair at Barnesfield Park off U.S. 301 near the Harry Nice Bridge.
Activities begin at 5 p.m. on June 4 and include games, a petting zoo, car show, moon bounce, challenges and puppet show. At 6 p.m., The Taters, an eclectic mix of roots rock, pop, country and Americana, take the stage. The group will be followed by Who Took Fred at 8, then the movie “Grease,” will be shown outside on the lawn.
Participants are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket. No pets, coolers or alcohol are allowed.
The event is presented by the Parks and Recreation Department and sponsored by NSWC Federal Credit Union. Other community partners include: King George schools, the YMCA, Naval Support Activity South Potomac, Caledon Natural Area, EXIT Realty Expertise and King George Lions, Optimists and Ruritans.
