States fines county entities $100,000
Virginia’s Department of Environmental Quality has assessed $100,000 fines against two King George entities: the landfill and service authority.
The landfill was charged $55,000 in fines for basically stinking up the neighborhood. The King George County Service Authority was charged $50,000 for discharging treated sewage and excessive limits of elements at two plants. One drains in the Rappahannock River, the other, the Potomac.
