5K race and Fun Run part of Healthy Kids Day
People will be running around the King George YMCA most of the day on Saturday.
The YMCA/NSWC Healthy Kids Day 5K and Kids Fun Run is planned on April 2 as part of day-long festivities celebrating Healthy Kids Day.
The 5K will begin at 8 a.m., with the 1-mile Fun Run following at 9:30.
Registration is going on now. Entry forms are available at any Rappahannock Area YMCA, family-ymca .org or racetimingunlimited .com.
The race is part of the new nine-event Rappahannock Area YMCA Race Series.

The rest of the Healthy Kids Day activities get started at 10 a.m. and include a puppet show, moon bounce, obstacle course, face-painting and fire trucks and National Guard Humvees on display with other large utility vehicles.
There also will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new 3,000-square-foot playground, which will be built at the YMCA and open to the public. Families will be treated to a free lunch at 12:30 p.m.
Citizens also can swim in the YMCA pool. Participants will be able to speak with a panel of experts, including nurses from the King George Health Department, a registered dietitian, fitness experts and representatives from the King George Farmers’ Market.
