Moose’s resignation is official
Sheriff Clarence “Moose” Dobson made it official last night; he turned in his resignation to the King George Board of Supervisors, who thanked him for his years of service. “Last night kind of finalized things,” the sheriff said.
He’s leaving the end of December, a year before his term expires, so Maj. Steve Dempsey, his No. 2 man, can run the office for a year. Then in November 2011, Dempsey will seek election to the post. Dobson believes the transition will be seamless.
The sheriff has been “the law” in King George for more than four decades. Read a profile about him–and how much he’s respected in the state–the week after Christmas in The Free Lance-Star.
