Blogger going places
Shirley Braden is going places, thanks to her blog about leading a gluten-free lifestyle.
Braden is the leader of the King George Gluten Intolerance & Celiac Group, which will celebrate its sixth anniversary on Saturday, Nov. 13, with a bread-baking demonstration.
The anniversary and open house will be held from noon to 2 p.m. at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church.
It will complete a busy few weeks for Braden, who’s been gluten-free since 2003.
On Nov. 3, Braden will be one of 15 gluten-free bloggers nationwide participating in the General Mills Gluten-Free Bloggers Round Table. Participants will give input on gluten-free products at the Betty Crocker Kitchen in Minneapolis.
Next spring, Braden will present a cooking demo and emcee part of the Gluten and Allergen Free Expo in Chicago.
Gluten is a protein found in rye, barley and wheat. Those who have no tolerance to it develop damage to the small intestine when they eat it, which leads to diarrhea and abdominal pain.
