A place to cool off
King George County officials announced today that its Citizens Center is available, during the heat of the weekday, to those who don’t have air conditioning.
“If somebody wanted to come by and cool off for a little bit, that’s fine,” said Tim Smith, director of King George’s Parks and Recreation Department.
The center is next to the King George Fire and Rescue headquarters on State Route 3. It’s open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday.
Officials said the cooling center would be open through this week, but Smith said residents could come by any week day, if they needed a place to chill.
There’s a seating area and cold water at the center, but meals are not provided.
