Be sure to be counted
King George County wants to do a better job with the 2010 U.S. Census than it did in 2000.
That year, only 65 percent of county residents filled out the census forms, compared to 72 percent of Virginia’s population, said County Administrator Travis Quesenberry.
County staff is working with various groups to get out the information about the census—and to stress how important it is for every resident to be counted. Communities receive federal funds for basic necessities such as schools and hospitals, transportation projects and emergency services, based on the data collected by census takers.
Flyers have been placed in schools, churches and other community centers.
