Shaw died of a heart attack

Popular King George artist John Shaw apparently died of a heart attack, his family said today.

His body was sent to Richmond, where a medical examiner ruled a heart attack as the cause of death. No autopsy was done, relatives said.

Shaw was well-known throughout the region for his detailed paintings of wildlife and dogs. Friends and fellow church members also said he was a generous man, who regularly donated his work to help community groups.
