2010 meeting schedule

The King George Board of Supervisors will start their meetings at 6 p.m. in 2010, instead of 6:30 p.m.

Supervisors serve as directors on two other county boards: the service authority and wireless authority. In the past, those meetings started at 6 p.m. and the supervisors, at 6:30. But if there were no issues before the service or wireless authorities, the supervisors sat around for 15 or 20 minutes, waiting for the clock to reach 6:30.

That won’t be the case in 2010. All meetings will be advertised to start at 6 p.m. When the authorities finish their business, the supervisors will begin theirs. The supervisors will schedule public comment at 6:30 p.m.

Supervisors will meet on the first and third Tuesdays throughout the year, including Election Day, Nov. 2. In 2009, the board moved its first meeting in November to a Thursday because two supervisors were running for re-election. But that’s not the case in 2010.
