UPCOMING: Exonerees meet to share experiences

Edgar Coker, second from left, appeared Wednesday at an Innocence Project event with his family, attorneys and fellow-exoneree Brian Banks, far right on back row, and novelist John Grisham, third from right on the front row.

This weekend, I’ll have a story about Brian Banks, a California man whose dreams of a college football scholarship and pro career were derailed by a false accusation of rape.

He got together this week in Charlottesville with folks at the University of Virginia law school’s Innocence Project Clinic where he met with Stafford County exoneree Edgar Coker.

Coker’s rape conviction was overturned last month and his name removed from the Virginia Sex Offender Registry.

We’ll have a full story on their meeting and insights from novelist John Grisham in a story this weekend. In the meantime, you can learn more about NFL free agent Brian Banks’ experience in this video.
