A welcome smile
Five years ago, I wrote a story about Grant Myers, who was born with the most common birth defect in the United States–cleft lip and cleft palate. As an infant, Grant had two gaps in his upper lip and for a time wore a sapce-age looking appliance in his mouth and nose held in place by tape crisscrossing his face.
His mom Karen came forward to speak out about the condition and raise awareness. Grant’s had five surgeries since then and likely have at least one more, but, as his mom wrote me in a recent email, “He has a HUGE personality. He is funny, sweet and spoiled. He is a daredevil. He is definitely a little boy and plays very hard!”
He’s also adorable. Just wanted to share this sweet picture with all of you.
