Healthy Life VA: Calories not the problem for overweight teens

Click here to read today’s Healthy Life Virginia newsletter, which features a story about how overweight teens actually consume fewer calories, on average, than their normal-weight teens.  The newsletter also shares recipes for  vegetarian shepherd’s pie and a salad with avocado, lime juice and beans.

If you’ve ever wondered how to become the teacher’s favorite, today’s newsletter can clue you in. And if you spend a lot of time standing in line or sitting in a cubicle, check out the newsletter so you can see a video by a local fitness instructor demonstrating ways to stretch out and get fit while standing around.

Speaking of exercise, writer Donya Currie is hoping to talk with people about how regular exercise provides a meaningful emotional lift. If exercise has helped carry you through tough emotional times, if it’s given you an added level of confidence to face life’s challenges or otherwise given you a brighter outlook on life, please get in touch with Donya. You can reach her at donyacurrie@verizon.net.
