Hear a healthy debate on the Affordable Care Act
At a community forum Wednesday night, Dr. Jody Crane and Dr. Christopher Lillis will discuss the Affordable Care Act and answer challenging questions about how the law is likely to shape health care in the Fredericksburg area and beyond.
The forum starts at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at the John F. Fick Conference Center, in the Carl D. Silver Health Center at 1301 Sam Perry Blvd. It’s the same building that houses the Lloyd F. Moss Free Clinic, and parking and the entrance are behind the clinic. Space is limited, so arrive a bit early to grab a seat.
Lillis, an internist with Chancellor Internal Medicine, thinks the act is a great first step toward providing access to health care for all Americans, millions of whom are currently uninsured. Crane, an emergency room doctor at Mary Washington Hospital, said he’s concerned the act will cause health care costs to soar without addressing important problems with the existing health care system.
Ed Jones, The Free Lance-Star’s executive editor, will moderate the discussion between Lillis and Crane. Each physician will give brief opening presentations, followed by questions from Jones designed to elicit even more insights. Jones also will pose questions submitted in advance by community members. Audience questions will be welcomed as time allows.
