Bike safety event postponed
A bike safety event scheduled for Saturday at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Stafford County has been postponed because of the heat and power outages, said organizer Carrie Schaefer, of the Rappahannock Area Health District. The event has not yet been rescheduled.
The bike rodeo was organized to promote cycling safety and as a way for the Fredericksburg Health Department to give away 149 children’s bike helmets that it received funding for through a Virginia Department of Health grant. About a dozen of those helmets are currently reserved for children who pre-registered for the event, Schaefer said; the rest are still available.
Kids interested in getting a helmet need to fill out (or have their parents fill out) a pre-registration form. Forms are available at area health department offices, the Bragg Hill Family Life Center and Stafford Junction. Or, you can call Schaefer, of the Rappahannock Area Health District, at 540/322-5955.
