After the half . . .
Looking for another race now that the Marine Corps Historic Half marathon is over? Here are a few options:
- May 28: The Civitans 10K and 5K events, starting at 7 a.m at the Central Rappahannock Regional Library headquarters in downtown Fredericksburg.
- June 10: The SPCA 5K Rescue run/walk, also starting at 7 a.m. at the downtown library.
- June 17: The Battling Cancer 5K, 8 a.m. at the Lloyd F. Moss Free Clinic in Fredericksburg.
- July 4: The Heritage Festival 5-mile race, 7:45 a.m. at the downtown Fredericksburg visitor center.
For young runners, the Fredericksburg Orthodontics Youth Triathlons are June 3 at the Ron Rosner YMCA at 8:30 a.m., with different distances for kids of different ages.
Sunday’s Historic Half was inspiring from a spectator’s perspective; I had a great time zipping from one mile-marker to the next to cheer on friends. All that stamina and determination – amazing!
If you’re up for a half marathon — your first or next — try the Virginia Runner Blue & Gray Half-Marathon Dec. 9.
