Geriatric center to hold open house

The SeniorCare Geriatric Medical Center in the Cosner’s Corner area of Spotsylvania County will hold an open house on Saturday, Jan. 28 to share information about its services and the unique needs of older patients.

Dr. Samuel Umesegha, the staff geriatrician, will talk about the center’s offerings and vision, and Dr. Wayland Marks, a local geriatrician, also will speak, according to a press release.

In addition, the center, which opened in May, will offer free mini-cognitive screenings to those who register. Participants also can get a free vitamin D screening and have their risk of falling evaluated.

The event, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., will feature “juke-box 50s music,” according to a press release. Refreshments will be served, and door prizes will be given away.
