Mom, when can I get a phone?

For an upcoming story on kids and cell phones, writer Kristin Davis would like to  speak with area parents, family counselors and others about when it’s wise to give a child a cell phone. Are phones ever really necessary, or are they just toys? Is there a magic age when a child is responsible enough to have one? How can parents set smart boundaries for children’s cell phone use?
