Moss Clinic needs volunteers
The next time you see your physician, Dr. Patrick Neustatter hopes that, along with inquiring about your health, you’ll ask this: “Are you volunteering at the Moss Clinic?”
The Lloyd F. Moss Free Clinic in Fredericksburg, where Neustatter serves as medical director, is in dire need of more physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants to see patients during its evening clinic, he said.
Specifically, the clinic needs help on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Neustatter says the clinic isn’t looking to twist arms or guilt people into overextending themselves with long volunteer shifts on top of their regular work days. It’s asking practitioners to give two or three hours of their time and talent once every three months.
Without more volunteers, patients will face even longer waits for appointments, and there’s a chance the clinic might have to turn patients away, Neustatter said.
Many local health care professionals already give their time to treat the area’s poor and uninsured patients, but Neustatter said the demand for care is growing, and the clinic is down to about half the number of volunteers it needs.
To volunteer or get more information, you can call the clinic’s volunteer line at 540/741-3590 or email Neustatter at email@example.com.
