HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Hornets cruise to softball win

Taylor Hensely was 3 for 3 with six RBIs to lead Orange to an 11–0 softball win over visiting Monticello on Thursday night.

Hannah Jones went 2 for 4 and picked up the win on the mound for the Hornets (9–2), who host Albemarle on Monday at 5 p.m.

SOFTBALL

NORTHUMBERLAND 10, WASHINGTON & LEE 0

Julie Traylor went 3 for 3 with two triples to lead the Indians to the Conference 43 victory.

Victoria Minor went 1 for 2 with a double for Washington & Lee (3–6, 0–3), which hosts Lancaster on Tuesday.

ORANGE 3, MONTICELLO 2

Monticello tied the game in the top of the sixth, but homestanding Orange pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with a victory.

The Hornets (4–7) host Albemarle on Monday.

BOYS SOCCER

MONTICELLO 3, ORANGE 2

Alex Kaval and Sam Faulconer each scored for Orange, but visiting Monticello earned the win.

Cory Plamp added an assist for the Hornets (2–5–1), who host Albemarle on Monday.

 

Wednesday’s game

GIRLS SOCCER

ORANGE 4, TURNER ASHBY 2

Jamie Barr scored twice and Tyhesia Minor and Devin Petty had one goal each for the Hornets (2–5).
