HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER ROUNDUP: Nestor’s goal lifts ’Hawks to victory

Philip Nestor scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to lift Brooke Point to a 3–2 boys soccer win over visiting Riverbend on Friday night.

David Guckian scored and Richie Quispe had an assist for the Black–Hawks (3–1–1), who visit Hylton on Wednesday.

Gaven Jelinek recorded a goal and an assist, and Zach Taylor also tallied for Riverbend (1–2), which visits Mountain View on Tuesday.

BOYS SOCCER

STAFFORD 5, NORTH STAFFORD 0

Don Gatanis scored twice to help visiting Stafford get a nonconference win. Joel Sheets, Jackson Carmichael and Ramsey Brown also scored for the Indians (1–4), who host Massaponax on Tuesday.

MASSAPONAX 5, COLONIAL FORGE 2

Kyle Richardson had two goals and Bo Barry added two assists for Massaponax as the Panthers pulled away in the second half for a home win.

Sean Johnson, Abdoulie Wadda and Tyriq Wellman also scored, while Abdoulie Wadda and Bizimana Alexander provided assists for the Panthers (6–1), who visits Stafford on Tuesday.

HANOVER 6, CAROLINE 1

Joel Tidman scored for Caroline, but it wasn’t enough for the Cavaliers to get a win at home. Goalie Devon Wienand registered 15 saves for the Cavaliers (0–5).

W&L 2, WEST POINT 2

Jacob Daiger and Pope Azurmon scored goals, and Luis Chipres and Alex Lane tallied assists for Washington & Lee in a nonconference tie.

The Eagles (2–0–3) host Middlesex on Monday.

CHANCELLOR 7, SPOTSYLVANIA 0

Devin Hewitt and Kiko Solis had two goals each in the Chargers’ nonconference win against the Knights.

Sam Frields, Gabriel Soriano and Cameron Williams also scored, and Hewitt, Frields, Soriano, Valente Perez and Jermaine Birriel had assists.

The Chargers (3–0) play at King George on Tuesday while Spotsylvania (1–3) hosts Courtland.

 

GIRLS SOCCER

CHANCELLOR 2, SPOTSYLVANIA 2

Regulation and overtime could not decide a winner, as Chancellor tied with Spotsylvania Friday.

Emily Dove and Jena Turner scored one goal apiece for the Knights, with Alex Berg and Maddie Amos tallying for the Chargers (1–3–1).

Chancellor hosts King George Tuesday.

STAFFORD 3, NORTH STAFFORD 1

Katie Rauch, Ana Bellinger and Alyssa Kniffin had goals for the Indians in a nonconference win.

Charlie Ross, Rauch and Bellinger had assists for Stafford (2–2–1), which plays at Massaponax on Tuesday.

Cassidy Schmitz had North Stafford’s goal.

WAKEFIELD 3, FRED. ACADEMY 1

Lindsay Moore had the Falcons’ goal in a nonconference loss. Fredericksburg Academy (2–2) plays at Wakefield Country Day on Monday.

KING WILLIAM 7, W&L 0

Washington & Lee hosts Northumberland Wednesday.
