ALL-AREA WINTER TRACK CAPSULES

MIRANDA GREEN

King George senior

The Conference 22 1,000 and 1,600 meters champion, Green finished second at the Group 4A state race in the 1,000, running the event in 3:00.72.

 

SABRINA JOHNSON

Stafford senior

Johnson recorded a shot throw of 38–2 to win the 6A South title. She was also the Conference 4 shot champion and placed fourth at the 6A state meet.

 

CRYSTAL JONES

Colonial Forge junior

Jones was the 6A state high jump champion, her third state title in the event. She was also claimed the Conference 4 long jump championship.

 

MEGAN REBHOLZ

Colonial Forge senior

The 6A South 3,200 champion also won Conference 4 titles in the 1,000 and the 1,600. She was seventh in all of Group 6A in the 3,200.

 

MESHALA MORTON

Mountain View senior

Morton turned in a blazing fast 7.07 to win the Group 5A 55 meters state title. She was also fourth in the state in the 300 and won Conference 15 titles in the 300, 500 and 55 meters.

 

JOEY ABBATIELLO

Stafford senior

Abbatiello ran to a sixth-place finish at the Group 6A state meet in the 1,600. He placed fourth in the 6A South region meet in the same event.

 

ALEX BUKOVICH

Mountain View junior

Buckovich was the 5A North region and Conference 15 champion in the 1,000 meters. He also won a conference title in the 1,600 meters.

 

JOE CLINE

Brooke Point senior

Cline won the 5A state shot put title with a throw of 54–8.

He enjoyed a postseason sweep—winning conference and region titles in the event, too.

 

AASON PANKEY

Caroline senior

Pankey earned Group 4A all-state recognition twice, with a fourth-place finish in the 55 meters and a second-place showing in the high jump.

 

DAVION HUTT

King George senior

Hutt proved to be one of the state’s fastest sprinters this spring, claiming a 4A state title with his 6.47 in the 55 meters. He was the 4A South and Conference 22 champion in the event.

 

RUDY PEKAREK

King George

Pekarek’s Foxes enjoyed another consistent winter with both teams turning in strong postseason performances. The girls team was seventh in the state while the boys placed sixth in Group 4A.
