HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Eagles’ wrestlers finish third at Virginia Duals

Colonial Forge’s wrestling team posted a 4–1 record to finish third in the National High School Division at the Virginia Duals on Saturday.

The Eagles opened with wins over Benedictine (37–27) and South Plainfield, N.J., (28–25), but then lost to Nazareth, Pa., (37–21) in the semifinals. Forge then bounced back to beat Arvada West, Colo., (30–28) and St. Anthony’s, N.Y., (43–28).

Two Colonial Forge wrestlers were undefeated—Anthony Carter (170) and Patrick Grayson (220 and 285). Josh Nail (120 and 126) and Robert Winters (182 and 195) were both 4–1.

Eastern View was fourth in the American High School Division.

MOUNTAIN VIEW DUALS

Benjamin Bullin was 5–0 with five pins, helping Mountain View to a perfect Saturday at their own dual tournament.

The Wildcats had wins over E.C. Glass (57–15), Liberty (73–3), Sherando (46–27), Spotsylvania (66–3) and Woodberry Forest (54–22).

Josue Beltran (120), Trevor Watkins (138), Russell Ramsey, Jared Swan (170) and Zuriel Yi (182) also were undefeated on the day.

RIVERBEND FIFTH

The Bears were fifth out of 10 teams at the Devil Dog Duals in Traveler’s Rest, S.C.

Two Bears were undefeated on the day—Luke Wright (106) and Xzavier Darensbourg (145).

Riverbend hosts conference opponents Woodbridge, Gar–Field and Colonial Forge on Wednesday.
