HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Panthers hold off Chargers for ‘W’

Aaron McFarland hit a key 3-pointer in overtime to help Massaponax escape with a 90–85 boys basketball win against visiting Chancellor on Wednesday night.

The Panthers led by as many as 16 points in the second half only to see the Chargers tie the game in the fourth quarter.

Chancellor had the ball with 32 seconds left, but the Massaponax defense came up with a stop to force overtime. McFarland finished with a game-high 24 points for the Panthers, who visit Tuscarora on Friday.

Josh James led four Chargers in double-figure scoring with 19 points.

Mike Nugent scored 8 of his 10 points in the second quarter to spark the Black–Hawks. Brooke Point will play the National Academy out of Baltimore in the Snowball Classic in Garrett, Md., on Dec. 27.
