GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Cavaliers beat Knights in overtime

Hope Tolliver scored 26 points and visiting Caroline outlasted the Spotsylvania 69–68 in overtime to take the nonconference girls basketball clash on Tuesday.

Kortni Simmons—who led all scorers with 38 points, while adding 18 rebounds and 11 steals—sank a free throw with four seconds remaining in regulation to send the game in overtime. Simmons’ half-court heave at the buzzer in overtime hit the rim and bounced off, giving Caroline the victory.

Spotsylvania hosts James Monroe on Friday night.

Alandra Bandy had a triple-double scoring 12 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds to lead the Black-Hawks to a victory.

Valerie Poole recorded 24 points and four rebounds for Brooke Point, which hosts Battlefield on Thursday.

China Window led the Wolverines with 13 points and Onyx Jenkins added six points.

Alexis Davis had 12 points and Jasmin Nguyen added seven points for Mountain View.
